Passing through Mobile and I wanted something off the beaten path. They definitely have a system going. Walk in and you'll pick it up quick how to order and go.
Rodgers B-B-Q
About this place
Rodgers B-B-Q operates out of a St Stephens Road location in Mobile where the smoke from the pit is visible from outside, a detail longtime customers point to as proof the barbecue here is cooked the traditional way rather than reheated or shortcut. The restaurant has built a strong local reputation over the years as a family-run barbecue spot, drawing both regulars from the neighborhood and visitors specifically routing their trip to include a stop here.
The whole slab of ribs paired with a whole barbecue chicken and two sides is a favorite full-meal order, often described as enough food to last most of a week. Sides get just as much praise as the meat itself, with greens, mac and cheese, baked beans, and potato salad all mentioned by name as standouts, and the peach cobbler frequently called out as a dessert worth saving room for. Reviewers visiting for family gatherings describe leaving everyone full and satisfied, with more than one guest calling it the best barbecue in Mobile and recommending it to both locals and visitors passing through.
Feedback has not been universally positive in more recent reviews, with a small number of guests describing inconsistent rib quality and missing menu items like pulled pork on certain visits, a reminder that quality at any long-running family restaurant can shift over time, particularly through ownership or staffing transitions. The restaurant's extended Friday and Saturday hours, open until midnight, make it a flexible option for a late dinner, and for guests catching Rodgers B-B-Q on a strong night, the ribs, smoked chicken, and full lineup of soul food sides continue to draw comparisons to the best barbecue traditions in the region. Visitors from outside the immediate Mobile area, including those simply passing through Pritchard, have specifically noted planning return trips based on a single strong visit, a sign that when the kitchen is running at its best, it leaves a lasting impression. Between the smoked ribs, the full spread of sides, and a dessert like the peach cobbler that regulars specifically save room for, Rodgers B-B-Q continues to represent a piece of Mobile's home-style barbecue tradition worth experiencing firsthand.

The food is great. My only complaint is the so call baked beans. Theyβre plain Jane . I can open my own can of pork and beans. You charge too much for simple can of beans.
Got a half slab of ribs, potato salad, and peach cobbler. Everything was amazing. It is to-go only so wear old clothes if you're traveling and eating in the car!
I was introduced to Rodgers BBQ back in 2003 when I was in the military by a close friend that's from Mobile, AL. Im out of the military and I now live in McDonough, GA just south of Atlanta, but I'm from Baton Rouge. So everytime I make a trip back home, I make sure to stop at Rodgers on my way back to McDonough.
I don't frequent Pritchard often, but when I pass through I will be stopping here. The ribs and wings were fantastic. I wish I could have tried the Β½ chicken, but unfortunately they were out. The Mac & cheese alone is something I would sell my body for. Metaphorically speaking. I feel as though I have been to one of those barbecues I hear so much about. We will return. π
My friend and I were visiting from the pacific northwest. On our drive from Gulf shores to New orleans we wanted some authentic BBQ. This place did not disappoint. We had ribs, greens, Mac and cheese, sweet potato pie, and peach cooler. We are definitely going back next time we are in Mobile.
I always get the whole slab of bbq ribs with the whole bbq chicken and two sides. I eat like a Queen for a week. Food is always delicious, fresh, and the side order of greens are mouth watering good, and well seasoned.I have never been disappointed......you ought to come on and try Rodger's.
